Is it very weird to keep hair very long for a 50-years-old woman ?

my mum has very long hair that just down to her knees. She started to grow her hair when she was in her late 30's.Now she is 50 years old.

She wears her straight mane into a huge bun during the day time .More and more friends of hers have began to think my mum's hairstyle is a totle failure, out of fashion, not suitable for her.so many friends think it is wrong for my mum to be a modern day Rapunzel.

I think my mum has special feeling for her long hair.

but so many people said such long hair was too bad .Is it very weird to keep hair very long for a 50-years-old woman ?

The idea that an older woman should have long hair is an old wife's tale based on absolutely nothing. It's ridiculous that some people still think that your age should dictate your hairstyle, I think it's akin to some silly superstition. Long hair on a woman is beautiful regardless of her age. She needs to tell those fashion fascists to bugger off and worry about their own hair (or lack thereof).
Its beautifully executed and really pretty hair.I suppose it depends how she looks in it-you don't show her face, how your Dad likes it and how she feels. I don't think its weird. It totally depends on how she looks. Perhaps she could talk to a stylist about different ways of wearing it. Maybe a figure eight twist thats like a long pony tail or a braid or something. My only other comment to her would be that if she never wears it down, whats the purpose?
OMG! very strange! I think that the longest anyone, at any age, should go is to mid-back!!! Any longer is when your hair becomes unhealthy, and it's all dead-ends, unless they've trimmed it at least every 3 months!
It's her hair, so it's up to her and not her friends. Since it isn't grey and looks healthy, than I would say it looks fine. But maybe she should go in for a trim every so often.
It looks ok in the picture. As long as she is happy with it. Long hair at 50 is no problem, just think of Madonna. As long as it's kept clean and in good condition it's ok.
Looks ok to me, it seems like shes taking care of it and not negligent to her appearance so its all good.

Also your now imaging your mom naked and breathing manually.
It isn't weird. However, I would cut it. It doesn't look attractive. Go short. Maybe a bob or shoulder-lenght locks.
It looks great! I think her friends are just jealous
ask your self would it look better shaved?

Not cutting one's hair can be a very cultural thing and sometimes even a religious thing. I would never presume to tell someone that they should go against their culture or their religion. That being said, in our American culture, long hair is associated with younger girls, and most older women tend to look foolish with extremely long hair. It seems like they're trying to look younger or maintain their youth. Usually, it's an utter failure. Women often feel like their hair is their ';crowning glory'; and this myth is perpetuated by men who, for whatever reason, seem to adore long hair. I understand that your mom may really love her long hair, but she should really consider cutting it at least to her shoulders. That way, she will still have the feel of longer hair, but it will look much better. Is it very weird to keep hair very long for a 50-years-old woman ?
No really, im 14 and i will sitll have long hair until im 80!!

And if its in a bun, you cant notice it. People will proberly think its a clip-on bun.

No honestly, you should love her hair as if it was your own :)
wow, thats amazing! i dont think her age makes a difference (50 isn't that old) , i don't think her hair looks bad, but, though i can't see her face, i think she would look really beautiful if she could wear her hair down. has she ever considered donating her hair to locks of love? because, from what i see her hair looks healthy and is a very lovely color. should should donate it and then get a great stylist and ask their opinion on what hairstyle would suit her best.
Don't say this about your Mom, you have to spend good time with her because you never know what's going to happen...

That's really mean...And maybe your Moms comfortable with her hair like that, I think it looks awesome in a bun...Nice and sophisticated!
she should cut it. a lot of older women like cutting their hair into spunky hairstyles to make them feel more vivid!
Yes, no1 wants to see that sh*t. Dammmmmmnnnn.

    Peace
her friends are just jelous. she hould keep her hair like that.
Your mum should be applauded for having her hair the way she wants it, not the way society dictates. Her friends sound like jealous conformists, allowing themselves to be pressured by silly old-fashioned standards.

Her hair is BEAUTIFUL and she should be proud to not only enjoy life at 50, but to enjoy her hair too. Isn't what makes your mum happy what truly matters anyway?

I am looking for a woman from New Hampshire named Tanyn Palmer(bout 28 years old with red hair).?

Is it considered weird, out-dated,or old-fashioned for an adult woman to wear a bow or ribbon in her hair?

Small ribbons or anything that looks like Disney is a BAD idea. However, a tasteful ribbon around a ponytail or as a head band isn't bad.Is it considered weird, out-dated,or old-fashioned for an adult woman to wear a bow or ribbon in her hair?
Yes, weird, outdated and old fashion!!!Is it considered weird, out-dated,or old-fashioned for an adult woman to wear a bow or ribbon in her hair?
I don't know but the person who wants to wear it shouldn't care either way! It's their hair, nobody else's. They can do what they want.
    Yes.
If those around you do not, then it would be considered weird. No matter whether it is out-dated, or old-fashioned.

Unless, you can pull it off, but that usually takes luck in the physical department and lots of talent.
Do what ever makes you happy! if you think looks good go for it!! Maybe you will start a trend!! have fun!!
It probably is, but hey, if you can wear it and it looks good and you like it - go for it.
i would say it depends on how you wear it.

just don't be tacky by wearing a big bow.
Not anymore, but you do have to pair it with something very chic and with clean lines.
    Yes!!!
For the most part I'd have to say yes. Bows and ribbons in ones hair are kinda of Pollyanna-ish for a grown woman.
It is my opinion that not at all. If you like it and it makes you look good go ahead. i still wear head bands and things there is nothing wrong with that!!!!!
    no,it's not.
    ribbons are back I think

    it's the 80s re-visted god help us
I don't think so. It depends on how it looks. If the ribbon is not a goo complimenting color to the womans skin, hair or clothing color, then obviously it's not going to look attractive. plus it also depends on the way the hair is...is it bid a curly?frizzy? poofy?straight? Many things go into consideration. Try a nice loose curl and a black satin ribbon with the tie or bow at the bottom of your hair where your neck is.

Hope you try it out and it looks good! :D
it depends n how it is styled and worn...if you are talking about wearing it like a seventh grade cheerleader then yes it's out dated...but if it is a scarf or a tie for a low pony tail no...

What hair style is flatterig for a fifty year old fashionable & attractive woman?

Well, Anna Wintour is all of the above (head of Vogue) and she's favoured a blunt bob for years:

http://www.flickr.com/photos/82774394@N0鈥?/a>What hair style is flatterig for a fifty year old fashionable %26amp; attractive woman?
i think first of all they have to look healthyWhat hair style is flatterig for a fifty year old fashionable %26amp; attractive woman?
It really depends on your hair type and face shape but as a 42 year old I would say that soft layers and some highlights or lowlights are the most youthful look. I recently spent 2 years growing my hair into a one length bob only to find that the precision style was a bit too harsh for me now. I've had it cut quite short with long choppy layers and rough dry it so it waves naturally. I look much younger.

I also like really short (think Annie Lennox) type cuts but you do need fab features to get away with it.
Go For a smart short hair. Have a look around you! Women in your age with long hair look older! So go for a short style hair.. Its practical, sexier, smarter.. and most of all look younger!!! xxx
If you want longer hair get it really choppy and really layered it will make you look younger a few highlights or low lights similar to your own colour but maybe a tone or shade higher or lower.

if you want shorter hair a ';pob'; is like a bob but its more styled its more short at the back and it gets longer as it comes round. get it darker underneath and lighter on top...but not too light because then it will look Overdone

Autumn colours its always advised you go darker in autumn months but you dont have to you can stand out and go lighter or if you are going darker coppery browns and purpley browns are HOT! if your going blonde dont go platinum that's CRAZY! go for an ash or a honey blonde

DO NOT! GET A PERM, DO NOT GET IT CROPPED, DO ONT GET IT CHEAP AND TARTY LOOKING! If your having it long make sure its very layered and styled

    hope i helped xxx
I can try and answer that as a man who notices women who look special. First of all I believe hair styles should be matched to the Shape of a woman's face, and complexion. Then it is important to focus on the Health of your hair Styles should be thought of at the end and should go with the attire.

I think any woman could look a lot more beautiful than she sometimes would believe possible. Your question suggests your positive attitude.
I think you have to be careful. Styles such as graduated bobs look good but next year the trends will change. First of all, it depends upon the texture of your hair, whether its frizzy, straight, or kinky.

I dont think really long style will look good. I would say anything below the shoulders is a faux pass. Layered hair looks really nice and layered bobs also look stylish too. You dont have to hack your hair off, but dont have it so long that you look like a witch.
My wife is a very very attractive, %26amp; fashionable fifty ++ year old woman who was mistaken for our 33 year old daughters sister. She has a graduated bob hair style with full head colour. she is naturally blonde. Her hair looks fab. :0))
i would say a bob cause there very in and all aged ppl look good with them xx
A shiny bob would look amazing. Short hair is very fashionable. It would create a young feel, especially if a hint of layers were added!

Also, a sideswept fringe would be a cute addition. A bob with a consistant shape can look a tad boring.
The answer from spikeanangel is great. That person sounds like a stylist.
a bob long at the front short at the back easy to do and smart good luck
depending on your face shape, but I'd go for something like a bob with choppy layers and maybe a fringe
maybe try something like this, just because your 50 doesnt mean u cant have hair like younger people...even something simple will look fine with accesseries:

Hi I am a Mature female and own a salon, so I see a lot of mature females and different styles, it is a fallacy that because you get older you should cut your hair, total rubbish

there is some fantastic styles about, depending on your face shape, I have a inverted bob and my hair is blonde, the back is taken in high and tight, and the bob goes to my jaw, the A line bob is in great demand, however you should choose the style you like, and as a stylist I always spend time in consultation with my clients, and have computer imaging so they can see the style on them first, nice to hear from a more mature female
    Hair net and rollers
it all really depends on your face shape, if you have a round face you dont want too much body at the sides, if a long/thin face then you dont want too much body on top, but could look good with a full fringe, or even an asymetric, graduated fringe, however in short, I think that shorter styles with a great deal of texture and quite short in the neck are really flattering, more often than not long styles are aging, and if you have long hair I should consider a total re-style, do you have colour? There are all maner of different styles, I would suggest that you arm yourself with lots of pictures of styles that you like, try to get as many different styles as you can as quite often folk go with one pic and their hair is nothing like in the pic regards texture, volume curl etc. and consult with your stylist, they knoe your hair and should be able to guide you with the appropriate style and form...

    hope this proves helpfull...

nope and it's really her biz how she wants her hair, now isn't it?

Do you think very long hair is ugly for a 42-year-old woman?

my mum has very long hair that just down to her middle thighs. She started to grow her hair when she was in her 30's.Now she is 42years old.

We are from China. My mum only trims her hair every 6 month.SO her hair is black ,straight, and no split ends, never permed and dyed. She wears her black straight hair into a huge braid bun that fixed on her head with a big hairnet.

Many friends don't think my mum's hair style is suitable for the modern day.Even a stylist told her that her hair was ';ugly'; ,she should cut her hair just past her shoulder and curl it.

Do you think very long hair is ugly for a 42-year-old woman? My mum has some feeling for the long hair because of the age of the hair. But she would consider cutting it if hair that long was really ugly. What is your opinion? Please tell us,the more words the better.Thanks.

i don't think it's ugly at all since your mum's hair is sleek and looks healthy. however she should cut it if it's already inconveniencing her like the time and the amount of shampoo it takes her to wash it, the effort it takes to comb it and put in in a bun. otherwise, it's ok.Do you think very long hair is ugly for a 42-year-old woman?
    i wouldnt say its ugly, because it looks natrual and healthy, but mid-thigh legnth is reeeealy long, lol. If she cut it to about mid-back legnth it would be alot easier to look after and people wouldnt say its ';ugly';

But if she likes it, then she should keep it, and dont worry about what other people think. :)
I think long hair begins to look ratty the older you are

a good shoulder length cut, or a couple inches below it will still have the same long effect with it looking healthy

try cutting it and donating to cancer.. that way you will feel better about the transformation
    Hi smallman

I got a nice answer to your concern at below websites. All you need to do is little search in the search box.

This is some practical info about hair that you probably do not know but you should:

One of the best website for all questions dealing with Hair-

    http://ncane.com/ttxc

    Also-

My stylist also got this stunning website for hair related matters:

    http://hairstyles101.blogspot.com/
It doesn't matter the age. A woman could be 1 year old or 100 years old, but having your hair longer than where your elbows are looks horrible.

Tell her to donate it to a cancer foundation or something.
I think hair down to the thighs looks awful on anybody. Its just way too much. Whats the point? I think mid back is good, but anything past the butt is WAY too long.
I think you should grow up and stop worrying. If your mum is happy, leave her alone.
I think long black hair looks good on a 42 year old.
I think it's so cute! Leave her be. If she likes her hair then don't worry.
i think she should have it cut more sophisticated like a house wife look
    get her to donate it.
i think she should. but maybe just to her belly button at first.

What is the best hair style for a chubby-cheeked, round/oval face (40 year old woman)?

I am 30, and I have a full face, too. My hair stylist, who is a hair genius, told me to grow out my hair while she continued to give me long layers except for the top to slim my moon face. My crown is layered, too, but on the shorter side. I use Velcro rollers in the crown when I blow dry my hair as I use a ceramic, boar-bristle brush to smooth out the layers. After the hair is dry in the rollers, I take it out and I have A LOT of volume on top. Between the elongating, past the shoulder layers on the bottom, and the root lift/volume on top, my face appears much, much thinner. I hope this helps. I guess you would call my style a long shag with a short layered crown. It looks awesome with a few highlights, too.

P.S. My hair is on the thicker side, but not extremely thick, and it is semi-wavy naturally, but it does blow dry striaght with this method - To compare to your own hair texture. What is the best hair style for a chubby-cheeked, round/oval face (40 year old woman)?
long, curly hairWhat is the best hair style for a chubby-cheeked, round/oval face (40 year old woman)?
Ok, short short layers stacked high in the back, long in the front, coming at a angle around your face ';NO SHORTIER THAN YOUR CHIN'; or you will take the style away from your face, with some chunky high lights, and you will look 10 years younger. Note if your style is cut right you will still have length in the front to pull it back in a clip..This cut will make your face look slimmer..trust me, i have a fat chunky face and I have had this hair style for years, and love it...I looked fatter when I had long hair...hope this helps..Just an opinon, and at 40 you are still young and beautifull...

Do you think it is acceptable for a 39-year-old woman to wear ribbons or bows in her hair?

It's acceptable if you're comfortable with wearing it. Personally, I'm at the stage of life where I am comfortable doing my own thing and I'm a little bit past the age of 39. I don't care what other people are doing or what they think about what I'm doing. If you consider yourself to be a leader and not a follower, then have confidence in yourself and the decisions you make, and stop worrying about what other people think about you. People are always going to find reasons to criticize and judge what others do, as you've already experienced in some of the post here, even if you licked every behind in the world to please them, simply because they are not secure in themselves and their life choices. So why not please yourself and do your own thing. It's the only way you will insure your own happiness and security in the choices you make for your life. Ribbons and all.Do you think it is acceptable for a 39-year-old woman to wear ribbons or bows in her hair?
well to me it depends what type of bows. but i belive that u should just make your own style, make it fun, and have fun doing it.Do you think it is acceptable for a 39-year-old woman to wear ribbons or bows in her hair?
    it's a bit childish, isn't it?
    no not at all

    unless it's halloween

    39 year olds

    should be sophisticated
I think it is fine. I don't know why it is childish. I think it is very feminine. Women used to wear ribbons and bows a lot. I guess it went out of style.
    whatever floats your boat
yes as long as she feels compfortable with it.

your only as old as u feel
    uhh probably not

thats more of a kid thing

ive never seen a adult do that
It depends on how tasteful you're being. If your hair is tied back stylishly, sure. Maybe instead of using a monster clip you have a big bow clip. However, if you're at Dollarama buying the bow clips and wearing 30 in your hair a la kindergarten then it's completely unacceptable. You'll look like your grandmother dressed you.
    nah
well I say ribbons and bows are the s***

    but then i'm 15

but hey go for it! I totally think its acceptable
Yes it is. If you live in a free country no one has a right to tell you you can't. It doesn't matter even if you are the only one. Conformity is the soul killer.
why not? its a free country
I would say do what you feel....

I would wear it and I'm 30 especially if I'm trying to be cute and playful
Head bands maybe but not bows im thirteen and i stopped that at 7 years old

  • Do you think a woman ever gets too old for really long hair?

I really like my very long hair but I'm past 40.Do you think a woman ever gets too old for really long hair?
No! The average mid-length (shoulder) hair is very mom-ish and boring. Long hair is great at any age as long as its properly maintained and healthy. Keep your long hair if you like it!Do you think a woman ever gets too old for really long hair?
Umm yeah i really dont think you should have really long hair past like 30 but like I mean a little below shoulder length is ok, just not down to your butt.
Wear your hair long if it is flattering to your face and you feel your best when you wear it that way.

It is regal and classy. Ask your hairdresser for ways to make it healthy and shiny.
You should be who you are and if you look good with long beautiful hair then keep it by all means!

Remember 'age' is just a state of mind. I am 41 and look and feel like I am in my 30s. I have long beautiful healthy looking hair that keeps me looking years younger than I really am.
    no never
I think it depends on culture. I noticed on the mainland us most older women have short hair and I hated it! here in hawaii, most women, of all ages, seem to have long hair. I love it!
    turns me on
no its probably very pretty but when its down it might be a little wierd but i think it would probably look very nice if you put it in a low long braid
I should not be about halfway down your back, around shoulder length would be great. If you don't look 40 then it depends on how old you do look
It depends. I think that a woman should leave her hair about shoulder length or shorter by the age of 50 or 55. Some people it depends on though, because of the structure of their face.
I dont think so. My mother is 45. I cut her hair every 3 months. It grows faster than mine.
well if it is pretty i would keep it long and pretty! i have really long hair and people seem to like it and i'm 13 and when get past my 40 or 30 i will be asking the same question so don't cut and keep it pretty!!!!!!!!!! you go girl
i don't think so , but older women do look much better with shorter or shoulder length hair.
I think long hair is beautiful! You go girl!
Yes, a woman does get too old for really long hair. Though that age varies from person to person.

A good rule of thumb to determine if your too old for your really long hair is simple; do you have the strength to brush it?

If the answer is yes then your not too old yet.

There are other factors to consider. Do you have chronic neck pain? Does your significant other find the really long hair an attractive feature?

Is your really long hair preventing you from getting that long sought after job at McDonald's ;) .

As long as you like yourself ,wear your hair as long as you wish. Just don't trip over it...
    nah i dont think so
Find styles that suit the shape of your face eg// updo's. Maybe have it trimmed slightly.
    It is als0 very simple. It is n0t necessary t0 gr0w 0ld t0 get a l0ng hair. T0 have a l0ng finger nail is it necessary t0 very 0ld? N0, n0t at all. It is the same thing f0r y0ur questi0n als0.
i hate!!!!!!!!!! how older ladies cut their hair so short. i told my mom whos over 40 that i would never let her cutt her hair that short, she wouldnt anyways. i dont see why u have to cutt your hair just because ur older, i think long hair is gorgeous and wouldnt it make u look younger anyways??
no i don't think a woman ever gets too old for really long hair
I'm 50 and I have long hair that is past the middle of my back. I love having long hair. I think as long as your happy, that's all that matters. I look way younger than my age, so I don't worry about it.
If you keep up with it and it's healthy, you're never too old. It seems like a lot of women let themselves and their hair go, and it gets ratty. Avoid that and you're good.

At what age is too old for a woman to have long hair?

40 something, they would look younger and chic with shorter hairAt what age is too old for a woman to have long hair?
There is no ';age'; limit for long or short hair.At what age is too old for a woman to have long hair?
    Never
Never too old for long hair.
    Age is an attitude.
I don't think there is age limit for women in long hair, depends on their looks.
    109 comes to mind.
    45+ or 40+ sometimes

i hate when old people try to dress young! ahh its so annoying

what kind of a question is this woman should always have long hair
My next door neighbor never cut her hair in her entire life. She died at age 86 with all of it on her head. Looked good, too.
    Over 45.
i don't know why people think there should be an age limit.

i do not see that many older women with long hair, but there are a few out there.

i just had my hair cut 19'; earlier this year. (i am in my 50's)
    40

i dont think your ever too old to have long hair as long as it is well-groomed and not frizzy

Question for girls and women ONLY.. 13 year old girl with no pubic hair, is that normal?

im 13 and a half and dont have any, like at all, but i had my first period like a year ago. im just kinda worried cos everyone of my friends has it and i knw its supposed to happen when you hit puberty. i tried lookin on health websites and all they said is that girls are suposed to have light hair by 11 or 12, and i dont even have thatQuestion for girls and women ONLY.. 13 year old girl with no pubic hair, is that normal?
Well, I'm about your age and have developed a little bit more...but, you know, some don't start puberty until fourteen or fifteen. It doesn't matter, though -- once you're an adult, nobody will care WHEN you went through puberty as long as you DID.

Nobody can tell you what your body is supposed to be doing. Except your body.

It'll be fine! :-)Question for girls and women ONLY.. 13 year old girl with no pubic hair, is that normal?

yes age is not wat count it is the readyness of your body.
    yes
If you are blonde or reddish blonde haired, it may just be that it is not showing yet. You can also check out tampax.com and see if they have some answeres you may be looking for.
It's different for everyone depending on who you are. Some people will have very light hair growth and others will have a forest! But eventually it comes to everyone. You are still going through puberty, and as you have had your first period, this shows your hormones are all working. Your pubic hair will come in time, don't worry.
    count your blessings
You have plenty of time to acquire pubic hair. the average age to acquire this is just an average.Expect this to happen at anytime and by 16 for sure. Enjoy it. Besides, so many women wax part or all of it off.
girls r not all the same my daughter was 14 1\2 dont stress it will happen
Don't worry. As long as you get some by 16 you are fine.
You probably have fine, light colored hair on your head. Dont worry. Everyone develops differently. Once you get it, you will wish you didnt have it.

What's the best hair colour for a 37 old years woman ,with green eyes with golden points . my skin is weaten.

chestnut brown with lighter shade highlight and include a rich brown low light for depth, just a little here and there will bring glamor to your hair style.

For a 63 year old woman, how can I improve my makeup and hair without looking too young?

The key for you is to not over do it. I see alot of older women wearing very bright pink lipstick, loads of blush and occasionally too much dark eyeshadow or eyeliner. Doing that will only make you look older. This is my suggestion to you for an updated makeup routine:

Use concealer underneath the eyes or on any spots on the face. Then blend with your fingers. You can set the concealer with any powder of your choice.

Next, purchase a face illuminator. This will blur any fine lines or wrinkles and make your face look more vibrant, younger, and more awake. They come in powders or liquids.

When it comes to eyeliner you should use brown because it`s less harsh than black and gives off more of a natural look. To make eyes seem larger and brigher use a white eyeliner pencil in the inner rim or waterline of your eyes. Curl lashes and apply two coats of mascara.

With the hair make sure to not grow it too long because that will make it look like you are trying too hard to be young, LOL. A bob would be stylish and modern for your age. Don`t go too light or too dark when it comes to your hair.

Hope I helped. For a 63 year old woman, how can I improve my makeup and hair without looking too young?
I would suggest going for a darker eye shadow such as brown, dark gray, or a smoky purple. Or you could even skip the eye shadow all together and use a very black mascara on your lashes to make them stand out (be careful to evenly separate your lashes or they will look clumpy).

As for blush and lipstick it's really up to your own sense of style and color preferences. Matte or sheer colors with a hint of sparkle are really big right now.

I think your style overall is still really good and the only thing that really looks dated is the blue eyeshadow. For a 63 year old woman, how can I improve my makeup and hair without looking too young?
i would just do light makeup nothing to heavy maybe eye liner on special nights out or something but more of a natural feel light brown eye shadow and stuff like that!! :)
Sstay away from the brights, and stick with more neutral colours. Beiges, browns, creams, and pastel colours look softer and are over all more appealing and sophisticated.

Ladies pls: Is it normal for 30-something year old women to need to pluck away a few dark chin hairs?

I'm 34 and once in awhile, I need to pluck this one stubborn blonde hair that grows on the left side of my chin. It's only one and it drives me nuts! I do think it is normal. As we age, things change. The boobs sag, the butt loses it's firmness, celulite and wrinkles attack! And once in awhile we grow a hair or two where no hair should ever be on a women. It sucks, but what can you do? lol Just be happy your eyesight hasn't gone to the wayside so you can still see those little hairs to pluck! Totally normal, as are chest hairs near the nips. Anyone who tells you otherwise is in complete denial.
I am 28 and I have been plucking since I was 19. It sucks, but OK...I would suggest waxing.
i dont know but you should get your chin waxed because plucking them away makes them faster to grow back

Best hairstyles for a woman who is 41?have long bld hair, does short hair make you look older?

Look for women in a mall, or about town, that you think have nice hairdo's. Ask them where they get their hair done, then go there and get a consult. Short hair does not make mature women look older. Long--too long--hair can pull a face down and make you appear older than you are, especially if you have any gray. Short, or shorter do's can bring new life to your face and effectively take a decade off your appearence. The key is finding a stylist and a do that will work for you. There is no one hairdo that will work for women in their 40's. It depends on face shape, style of person, and what they will feel good with. Make sure you communicate your wishes and your druthers to stylist, then go for it--if you end up hating it--well, it will always grow back! But before any regret, listen to what your friends and family say about your new do. If they are compelled to actually TELL you how much they like your new hairdo, or what they like about it--then LISTEN to them--they are right. And ENJOY the new you!!Best hairstyles for a woman who is 41?have long bld hair, does short hair make you look older?
i dont reckon short hair wud make a person older. i guess its how they wud like to be perceived by other people..

if ur too overwhelming in cutting ur hair short.. maybe u shud consider going mid-lengths and by adding layers, highlights.. and changing hair color.Best hairstyles for a woman who is 41?have long bld hair, does short hair make you look older?
not necessarily, you just have to find out what do looks cute on you, if your worried about looking older. i have found most men like longer hair, it can be medium and still be not so hard to manage! good luck!
yes, short hair just looks like a lady gave up and it does have a significance about getting older
I believe that short hair makes you look taller, slimmer. I know a couple of women in their 60s who have shoulder-length gray hair and, quite frankly, they look like aging hippies -- and they would even if they dyed their hair. The women with short, soft curls look very neat and perky.

The exception to this is me. I have a wattle, and short hair emphasizes it. So does long hair.

Do you have any advice for formal, evening makeup, nails, and hair for 45-yr. old, petite slender woman?

my face is long, my hair is reddish brown and in a very short bob, my eyes are light brownDo you have any advice for formal, evening makeup, nails, and hair for 45-yr. old, petite slender woman?
I am a style consultant and a make up artist I hope my tips help:

    Make up:

Its best to go with the natural look.

This system of applying makeup for a natural look is fast and easy when you get the hang of it.

    Steps:

    1. Understand that a 'natural' look is one that uses colors that are right for your skin tone. How much you use, and where, depends on your personal style.

    2. Make sure your concealer is yellow in tone since it mutes imperfections without adding color, giving your skin a natural look.

    3. Apply foundation that matches your skin tone. The right foundation will seem to disappear on your face. If you are African-American, it's a good idea to have light, medium and dark shades of your foundation to allow for different gradations of color on different parts of your face.

    4. Apply eye makeup in earthy tones'beige, brown, gold or plum for shadows and brown and charcoal gray for liner and mascara. Skip liner or shadow entirely if you want to keep makeup light.

    5. Choose a blush color that is close to the color of your cheeks after you've exercised.

    Tips:

Remember to clean and moisturize your face first.

Choose brighter or darker tones for a stronger, more made-up look.

Intensify your natural makeup for evening. Instead of brown, for example, go for charcoal around the eyes. 'Pop' blush with a brighter color over your usual one. Make lips brighter, darker or more shimmery.

    Warnings:

Don't skimp on makeup tools. Better tools make applying makeup easier and faster.

The eyes wear any color just not bright white.

    Nails:

The main thing is to have nails and hangnails intact. Make sure they are no hangnails, and remove old nail polish. You can go with alot of colors, but I like to go with something not to dark since its still warm out, and something that you can wear for the next couple days. Any color between clear nail polish to pink.

    Hair

Since you have a short bob. Just add shine.Do you have any advice for formal, evening makeup, nails, and hair for 45-yr. old, petite slender woman?
makeup: black mascara, your normal foundation, possible black eyeliner, for your eye shadow, use a creamy beige color, i think it would look really good with your eye color. i personally hate messing with blush, but if it floats your boat

nails: a cream color that matches your eye shadow

hair: curls!!! you cant go wrong with curls!!! curls with bobby pins holding it out of your face

    good luck!!
My suggestion is that you should go and have a cosmetic counter in a department store do a makeup for you. It is hard to picture how you look and what is best for your face.
    make up aye
I would focus on the eyes, using a smokey-type look. Perhaps a nice golden-brown, or mauve shadow. I always put my shadow on after I line my lids; it gives them a nice, soft look. Be sure to do your brows as well, as they frame your face. Or have them done professionally.

Older women need moisturizers! Light, moist make-up and a more natural look will be most attractive. Also, if you focus on the eyes, make the lips paler (no reds). I like those lip-sticks that stay on for 8 hours.

You can really make your ';bob'; a lot fuller with a soy-bean pomade. Use only a little bit and pull it away from your face a bit for an evening look. have fun!

Hair cut and for a63 year old woman what good/?

Age appropriate cut and most important ''color.'' Most salons have picture books for mature people. Find a friend who has consistently good looking hair and go to their stylist.Hair cut and for a63 year old woman what good/?
A shot sassy style cut and something you can handle also high lites makes you look younger and a bit of blush and use it on the cheeks and on eyes, very lightly,Hair cut and for a63 year old woman what good/?
I like shorter, layered cuts so you can get creative %26amp; wear it in different ways. You can separate certain pieces %26amp; use pomade to hold it in place, or you can flip certain pieces out for a funkier look.

Whats a good decent hair style for a 27 year old woman?

well im lookin for a cool hairstyle at the moment i have blonde layerd hair what do u think i should change it to ??Whats a good decent hair style for a 27 year old woman?
Change to longer layers...it's a bit of a change without being drastic. Try bangs or grow yours out for another change.Whats a good decent hair style for a 27 year old woman?
completely bald except for a thin spiral of purple hair.
I personally got sick of layers, and it makes the hair look more thin or little, less puffy.. I let the layers fade away, and then had a hair cut.

I asked the hair stylist to cut the edges only into a round shape... she did that, but with the affect of having layers..

    I think it looks good

Because now my hair is not divided into LAYERS, but the edges aren't straight and boring...

You're only 27, enjoy anything.. ask for your hair stylist's opinion, go to a pro ;)
    I'm 28...mines very long
your still young so i imagine you could get away with most styles.
A Victoria Beckham bob is in the fashion at the moment
A good hairstyle is simply what looks good with your facial features and a length you feel comfortable with. It's very different for each person and there is no ';right'; hairstyle for a certain age.

You can experiment and find the perfect hairstyle for yourself with hairstyles software. It lets you try different styles on a photo of yourself.

so try it out itll grow back
try some low lights and maybe get the hair chin length
Dependant on your face shape a chin length gradoated bob with a fringe could well take a few years off and promote you as a sexy and sassy young lady.Good Luck,
Depends on your hair type and face shape really, but bobs are in at the moment. Or try a funky flicked out crop thing that might look good
i have very long hair with layers all over and ive recently had a fringe cut.im 28 but the fringe has made me look like a ten year old !!!
    well it all depends.

if you have a high forehead bangs are a win-win situation.

at the moment 70s shags are back.which is great if you dont want to go a drastic change.

just add in a few more layers and ad bangs.

and also make sure to get hair razored.

if you want a big change, try these:

if your hair natural curly but bulky: snipped a an inch or two below shoulders with interal layers and tons of texturizing.

if your layers are overgrown:add long layers scissored in and heavily texturize

    if your cuts straggly:

long layers ending just below shoulders and sidesweeping bangs.

if your hair dont do anything to flatter your face try a mid length snip with long layers andside bangs.

also, try changing your color if you want. the floowing will look great!:

deep brown base with caramel highlights,

rich chesnut brown base with trianglr sections folded into blonde, burgundy and brown highlights,

medium brown base with a feww golden highlights,

brunette with a combo of red and copper highlights,

or if you want to stay blonde try a buttery blond with slightly lightre highlights
a jet black mohican would be different

How old is too old for a woman to have long hair?
Interestinly enough with hair to my shoulders - past it and just turn 50 I am going for a shorter razor cut that I will flat iron. Looking at myself I do say too young for me. However I do not like sort hair because of age.
i think it's never too old. too many women now a days think that getting older means they have to cut their hair short and get perms and stuff like that. i was raised around hair because my grandma is a hair stylist. she is in her late 50's and had blonde hair with red and brown highlights and she looks like she could be 30 something. i love seeing older women with longer hair because it makes them look different.
There is no age limit. It just depends on how you want to look.
    There is no age limit.
    40
once your hair is completely grey.

if you dye it, at some point you're going to stop, right?

so when your hair is completely grey, i'd say that's when you know you're too old to have long hair.
    after death
An older woman has earned the right to wear her hair any way she likes!
It麓s not about the age, it麓s about the hair itself. If the hair is clean, healthy, shiny and beautiful it麓s okay to have it long, otherwise keep it short.
I think a more pertinent point is, what sort of condition is the hair in. If it's very thin and greying, then it looks awful worn long.
no age limit i think its beautiful an feminin
I didn't know there was a age limit to it...
    No age limit.

I knew this woman at age 85 and her hair was real long too.
i feel like it depends on the person, some look ridiculous at 30, so 40 and some look good even at the age of 50
no age limit really as long as its not grey, long and grey is bad, when it gets grey do shorter or dye it, if you only have a little grey than just dye and keep it long, but if your hair is healthy and has its colour sure why not keep it long
when it starts going gray then i think its a good time to cut it, however, some ladies have nice long gray hair..id say when it starts to look dry and stringy

How old is 'too old' for long blonde hair on a woman?

When you look like the crinkly faced guy from The Sweet?

When you get wolf whistles from behind which die out and turn to embarrassed mumblings as they go past?

Not a personal question by the way....I've hopefully got a few years to go before worrying...just interested in opinion.

I was once told you should cut your hair one inch for every year you are over forty. Anyone agree? How old is 'too old' for long blonde hair on a woman?
i believe that long hair is beautiful on older woman ! because most of the time we just chop it off when we turn 30. you rarely see older woman with long hair. i wold keep it for sure, and its blond which is tottally cool because blong is so pretty :)How old is 'too old' for long blonde hair on a woman?
    ';I was once told you should cut your hair one inch for every year you are over forty.';

    And who told you that?

It's your hair! You do what you want with it!

If it's healthy and you can take care of it properly, you don't have to cut it if you don't want to.

Besides, if you fell for that silly argument about cutting your hair an inch every year after 40, eventually you'd be sporting a cueball!
dont agree on the cutting an inch a year off. thats bollocks.

    AS FOR BLONDE.

There is trashy blonde and classy blonde.............2 of which can make extreme statements depending on how soft the colour is

ie; bleached blonde or yellow hair is awful on older woman.....kind of like Liz on Corrie

then you can ge blonde that has golden highlights and softer tones...............classy!!
I was beginning to wonder that myself, as I am nearing 40 y.o.

I think older women should avoid bangs. Bleached blonde hair with bangs looks terrible on older women.

If you have naturally blonde ( or close to it) hair that is not overprocessed, it could look good long. Looking healthy is way more attractive than using trends/make-up to appear younger.
re cutting hair - wouldn't it depend where you started from?

i think the admonition you've heard was practical rather than moral. age shows in hair - loses shine, body, volume, and gains frizz and breakage (and dullness). shorter hair makes it easier to mitigate the above. if it looks all right, who cares how old the wearer is?
Hell no, I am 27 and love my long locks. I will never give them up no matter how old I get. I have a 1 year old who pulls my hair daily and I still refuse to cut it. It makes me feel like a woman and you should keep yours to the day you die if that is what you wish.
short hair is for old women, do you feel old? i believe when you cut it, you become your mom, NOT!!!! keep it long and trust me you will always keep the guys heads turning
HEY!! MY MOM HAS LONG HAIR THAT'S NATURALLY BLONDE AND IT LOOKS AWESOME! So ha! And not just she's my mom! She's over 35 too! It's soft and pretty and never been chemically treated!
Yeah, it looks ridiculous when you see a middle aged woman with (obviously dyed) long blonde hair and OTT makeup!
nah, the longer the hair the better! i think it only looks good on verry few girls to have short hair the rest should keep it long, granted im only 21...
im a male and i disagree i think females can have long blonde hair till about 50 or even 60 theres no problem with that. and it makes women look younger
No i don't agree ! Well maintained long hair is beautifull !!!(no matter how young/old you are).

As long as it is clean and nicely conditioned.

    Greets,

    Rohnny from Belgium.
once a blonde always a blonde and as long as the woman likes it on herself she should be happy!!!
After age 40 shoulder length or shorter looks best. and a multi-colored blond ( a good professional weave) is best.
Yes older women with long hair look silly!

    I say after 35.
    48
30, i h8 old ppl trin to look 'cool'
    I'd say about 40-45.
if you like your hair long then keep it long why care what other people think.

While your hair is still damp, bend your head over so you're drying your hair upside down. Dry your hair with the blow dryer while using your hands to scrunch it. Once your hair is dry, throw your head back and immediately spray with silvikrin Flexible Hairspray .

The loss of hair may not have anything to do with your diabetes or medication. To be sure, please check with your doctor. Is it normal for a 64 yr old woman with diabeties to loose their hair?
I would talk to a doctor. You may have propecia (hair loss due to a disease) or hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism sometimes goes hand in hand with other endocrine disorders like diabetes.

The sites below were very informative, so I'd check them out. I know I don't know all the causes of female hair loss. I'd read these and then talk to your doctor, possibly a dermatologist, OB-GYN or an endocrinologist. The best person to refer you is your regular doctor.

    Good luck!
If you decide to go with a wig, i would suggest a full lace or lacefront wig. These wigs are attached using an adhesive, the base of the wig is this very fine material and the hair melts into your skin creating the image of very natural hair. The wigs are well worth the investment and look great on. I have been wearing them for 3 years now and love the way the look feel. I can cut, color and style my human hair wig just like i use to with my own hair. So after talking with your doctors and you find that you need a wig, i would visit www.hairbylondon.com
Have you gained or lost weight recently as well? You need to get your Thyroid checked. One of the symptoms of hypothyroidism is hair loss. There are multiple other symptoms as well, such as weight gain, memory problems, concentration problems, depression, anxiety... and for hyperthyroidism, you could also have hair loss, weight loss, concentration problems, insomnia, etc...

I would definately look in to the Thyroid, there has been an increase lately in the diagnosis of these conditions. It is quite common in women in there 40's to 70's and above.

Make sure they do a whole thyroid panel withTSH, T-3, T-4, and T-7 blood tests.

  • Why do old women never have hair longer than 4 inches? is it a legal requirement for their pension?

Its easier for the carers to look afterWhy do old women never have hair longer than 4 inches? is it a legal requirement for their pension?
Yes, I am sure it is.

It is also a requirement that they MUST wear floral dresses. Also, extra pension for ability to knit/ spit while eating/ facial hair/ thick glasses/ Urine smell/blue rinses/ repitition while telling stories/ those 2 wheeler trollies/ random laughter.

All of the above are entrance requirements for Bingo. Why do old women never have hair longer than 4 inches? is it a legal requirement for their pension?
    Define old.

I think you are generalising . I know women of pensionable age who have long hair, croppped hair, permed hair, straight.... etc etc .Each to their own.
nope, it's not a requirement for pension. hehehe

its either because they no longer have to wear their hair the way their man likes it and/or their lives are so full they want something far easier to tend to.
I am an older woman and i have very very long hair
one of my nans has long hair its near her bum lol shes always had long hair
Long hair can make a woman look considerably older than she is . Also it takes less time to maintain . As you grow older your hair thins .
not true! i know so many old ppl with long hair! i think alot of them keep it short cuz you dont have to do much to take care of it.
because it is easier to take care of when you cant lift your arms very high.. also very long hair looks great on young girls
I think it's probably because it's low maintenance.
I think it is probably because longer hair kinda looks funny on old woman. It makes them look outdated. Short hairstyles look more ';fixed'; and plus they can get it done weekly. I prefer to see short hair on older women.
That's not true, lots of older women have longer hair. Maybe the fact that having longer hair means they look far younger than their age, that you don't realise they are older women!
I'd love to have long hair again but mine is no longer as shining or luxurious as it once was, so I keep it shorter to hide that fact.

I suspect others have the same problem.
I think short hair tends to make you look younger when your older. Long hair on older women (60+ that is) just doesn't look right. So carry it well though.
Maybe it falls out of of their frail heads with too much weight....lol
It isn't a legal requirement, but hairdressers insist upon the overall length being no longer than 4 inches because it is easier to perm and the blue rinse takes better.
Youre wrong, you are obviously not noticing the older women with hair longer than 4 inches, I have seen plenty.
my hair is longer than four inches! does this mean I am not old?

Actually this is a very good question. Where we live , all the women have exactly the same hairstyle. It is quite an obsession of my husband's. He says it's like the Stepford Wives gone wrong.

We have discussed this phenomenon with our sons. They informed me that one day I would wake up with short hair. I would not have gone to have it cut, I would just wake up, and there it would be, short.
    You are joking, right?
I work in pensions and I can tell you there is no hair requirement for pensions. Nor height, race, colour, etc requirements. Unfortunately there is an age requirement. Shame that or we could all put in for one!
No..lol..that isn't why...but I understand where you are coming from. They keep their hair so short because they are tired of dealing with years of hairstyles and bad hair days. And when you get older you realize that hair is not all that there is to life. So why not cut it short, easily maintained and do something that matters like spending time with the grandkids or traveling with the hubby!.=)
Due to lack of oestrogen, as women get older their hair thins. If most of them had long hair it would look like a wierd straggly tramp woman in most cases, with bits on some parts of their head but not fully covering the scalp.

Some don't get this, they are blessed.
Because ';gray'; hair is more ';wiry'; %26amp; harder to style. That is one of the main reasons. Also, it's just an age-appropriate thing, you also don't see a lot of older women wearing mini-skirts %26amp; halter tops - at least I hope not! lol.
    you r so mean
your hair breaks more easily as you get older and so to have it short makes more sense to keep it in a reasonable condition
Yes, I thought everyone knew this. It's the same Law that means all men over 60 have to wear beige wind-cheaters and trousers that come up to their chest.

Really, I'm shocked you had to ask. ;)

How old is too old for a woman to wear long hair if it's not yet gray?

A woman or man is never too old to wear long hair - graying or not....so start to 'just be' and mind yourself first. Excercise self-confidence %26amp; assertivness everyday - you won't think about doubting your style....a special note: I am 41 years old - auburn hair STILL! with about 10 graying hairs, just starting out....and I panicked and went out to buy a toner to cover...that was the most ridiculous thing I ever did in my life...first of all- no one noticed, secondly: I did not notice!, thirdly - what a mess. There was a big moment of reflection during this panic of ';hey, I am 41 years old and still have great hair and SO WHAT if THE GRAY IS COMING TO STAY....I am lucky it is taking 'longer' than most women...(my sister grayed at 20! ugh....heheheheheeee) so I figure 'age gracefully' is the best concept/clue to follow and just be you!How old is too old for a woman to wear long hair if it's not yet gray?
YOU GO GIRL!!!! It was good to 'clue in' someone just like me....it was such a mess %26amp; expense!! Man....thanks...Take care always.

How old is too old for a woman to wear long hair if it's not yet gray?
What is wrong with a woman wearing long hair after any age, society would like to take away our feminine side and make us all masculine. No one has ever ask me if I think I should cut my hair.

I am in a religion that wears long hair and yes some women do not take car of their hair but most of us do. I don't think people notice other than we wear dresses all the time, but most of my group is very fashionable.
I am 37 and have hair to my waist......I don't think I will cut it anytime soon. I can wear it up when I want and it looks nice. I get compliments on my hair all the time....so I don't think anyone thinks I am to old for it yet.
Depends on the shape of the face. Longer hair definitely brings the facial features down and if the jaws are beginning to sag a bit, it's definitely not a good look. However, I've seen longer hair on many women over 50 with great bones and they look fantastic!
    never too old
Even if it's grey it's fine. Just as long as the hair is in good shape, and in a cut that reflects the person's age.
No such thing. Keep your long hair.
There is no law that I know of that compels a woman to cut her hair at a certain age or when it becomes a certain colour. It's personal choice as to whether anyone wears their hair long, short or middling....
ive seen alot of long hair and gray.to their waist and i thought they were very beautiful women.my mon sais she dont like it but thats her opinion
There is no such thing as too old to wear you hair like you want to wear it. Everyone should dress, use make up, do their hair and everything else in life to please themselves and not others. It's about what we think about ourselves.
no age limit. My mother started going gray when she was in her 20s. By the time she was 30, she had thick white hair that was down to her feet. She was very pretty in my opinion.
    40-45
One of my most beautiful memories of my Nana who I now realise was only about 50+ yrs old was her beautiful long hair that she used to get me to brush !!!!

Sooooo what is wrong with long beautiful hair.....!!/// if you have got it ';flaunt it !!!!'; !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it still suits - don't get it cut.

I would dearly love my hair to be long but it just will not grow any longer than just passed my shoulders :-(
    no age limit.
a fifty and something woman with long hair would normaly look a little strange
You should not put a cap in the form of an age.

Be yourself, and wear the hairstyle you are comfortable with. People will like you for that.
    never too old!
wear your hair anyway you feel most comfortable in. mine went white on the sides, salt and pepper on top, and stayed dark blonde underneath! I went totally plantium, short and layered! I like it. I had hair to my waist 30 yrs ago.
Dont think there is a set age limit on something like that, it more personal preference....but if I see 60 to 90 year old women with long hair it does look odd, but many have long hair they wear in a bun, let the hair down and some look like a character out of a horror movie, and of course some dont look like that!!
its how you feel wear what you want ,whats comfortable for you ,we need to stop trying to please everybody else
NEVER!! Who said there is anything wrong with ANY woman wearing long hair, gray or not? Its your hair, wear it however you want to.

    hmmm..

i am trying to understand your writing..

    and well

how she dresses shouldn't determine how much you love her..

u are with her regardless of her being older or not..

you are with her because of her..

not because you want her to look younger..

talk to her before it lower's her self esteem and later affect your relationship..

let her know you love her and that she doesn't have to try to be younger for you .. that if that's what you wanted .. you have gotten with someone younger in the first place.. =)My older woman like to change her hair style %26amp; dress for suitable for me?

What would be a good hair cut for a 48 yr old woman?

    w/ a skinny oval face

    w/ champayne blonde color

    and very thin hair

    medium length

very ergent.. please attach a photo? What would be a good hair cut for a 48 yr old woman?
Well, I will give my advice based off 15 years experience with womens hair. An oval face shape is the best shape to be complimented by a haircut. You have the best shape for the bob....it back in full force! Ask for the ';diagonal forward cut bob'; get a few layers in it to bring out some fullness if your hair is thin. Oh yea change to the brunette family, it will give you a more deep color ( make your hair look richer too). What would be a good hair cut for a 48 yr old woman?
Ohh, try this website - you can search by face shape, age and everything. Pretty good - http://hairstyles.virtual-hairstyles.com鈥?/a>
It really does depends your lifestyle.

Medium - Long hair I don't think suites someone of your age, even if you are extremely attractive.

I agree with the first answer of the 'posh' bob.

However you must be able to style it.

That style seems to fit your description, it would suit perfectly if your hair is straight too.
A cute bob would be nice, it would make your hair look

    thicker all around...

    http://www.beautyden.com/hairstyles/charlizetheronhairstyle3.shtml
    mohawk.
i think you should just get it cut up to your chin and nice and choppy (hair dresser will understand you) and fairly even length all around have it very thin so you can flick it out easy

style it flickish if you get what i mean for example rub a little wax into your wet hair and stand in front of a fan or hair dryer dryer and that will give you the natural ';flick out'; look

Reasons for hair loss in a 19 year old woman?

idk if i might be pregnant but i already got my thyroid test and diabetes test and they were negative. it just keeps falling out and im always tired.does anyone know what it could be??Reasons for hair loss in a 19 year old woman?
Stress, an allergy maybe, sometimes birth control can have that side effectReasons for hair loss in a 19 year old woman?
Get yourself tested for some kind of poisoning immediately.

The two symptoms you have described as ';being tired all of the time'; and ';hair loss as a 19 year old woman'; is not normal for any 19 year old. Pregnancy does not make your hair fall out.

The only other things I can think of is Radon if you live in a basement- Radon is under ground radiation, hence loss of hair and weakness.

Check the following links for symptoms, if they match, that is what you got. See a doctor ASAP.

I am no Doctor, it could be a numerous of things also mentioned here by others. Only a Doctor would know what is wrong with you.
hormones, but after you had you child it grows back thicker and longer but you get other problem's
My sister had the same thing, at 42. And her hair is growing back. For her, they thought maybe lupus, but that test came back negative. It most likely is stress...and the body can develop autoimmune responses for many reasons. If you're always tired....you could be deficient in some vitamin or mineral....you got a blood test, and everything came back ok?
    have you been eating alright???
    * pregnancy and child birth

    * hormone imbalance

    * i had a skin condition called alopecia (spelling?) that caused my hair to fall out when i was that age

    * stress can do it for sure

    * could be genetics (?)

    * lack of nutrition (anorexic peole have that problem)

im 20 and i do it but the main reason hair falls out i know this bc mom hairdresser if you take a shower every other day you will loose more hair if you are on medications could make you lose hair other then that have no clue go see doc the reason i do is im on medication and take shower every other day depending on how busy i am
    Deppression/stress/hair products/live anywhere near powerplant?
Have your testosterone level tested,it could be elevated.
Stress.. Look at the website below and maybe this will help you out..
Could be from stress or other medications.
    genetics
low iron level speak to dr
Stress is a big factor to lose hair, especially in females. Weigh your priorities, your health is much more important than small short goals.
hormones, stress, weight-loss, yes, pregnancy especially if you are tired all the time.
    alopecia maybe

    check for that

    its a hairloss disease

two of my friends have it
I would think it's stress and how much hair? I shed a lot especially when I need a hair cut. FYI Cancer does not cause you to lose hair the chemo that treats cancer does.
stress avon actually sells healthy hair pills for about $10.00 and biotin is also good. Check with your doctor to see if you can take biotin pregnant. good luck.
Stress is a definite possibility. As a 19 year old kid, the stress of school could definitely get to you. I don't want to scare you, but cancer is also a possibility. If you're on any medication, the side affects may be along those lines. Or, it may be something simple like your shampoo/conditioner is too much for your scalp to handle, or it may be an allergic reaction to that or something else. Have you had any other symptoms?

Talk to a doctor and explain to them what's going on.
    Hmmm....cancer?

I found this dor you in a specialized website for hair loss treatment.

1.Diet: An unbalanced diet, especially one without enough protein, can cause temporary hair loss. Women who are anemic often experience loss.

2.Improper Care: If you manipulate your hair too much, color and treat too much, blow dry and heat with curling irons and hot rollers too much, you will see increased hair loss. You need only to look at your bathroom floor, sink and countertops to notice this.

3Heredity: Heredity plays a part and comes from both sides of the family.

4.Alopecia Areata: This is an autoimmune condition characterized by circular patches of baldness. Basically, the body is attacking the hair follicles. Cortisone shots in the affected areas are required, and the earlier the better.Take heart. There鈥檚 a lot of research going on which may soon resolve most of the causes of hair loss in women. However, there is a great product that has been proven effective. It is called Provillus. Provillus is an oral supplement, which works to block DHT, a form oftestosterone that is responsible for 95 percent of hair loss. It also works to stimulate the scalp and bring dead follicles back to life. You can use Provillus as a preventative tool, starting the program before hair loss becomes severe, or you can use it after DHT has already begun to take hold of your hair and scalp.
It is stress. Being pregnant wouldn't do it.
I was going to say thyroid until I read the rest of your question. Stress could be a factor, but I think you should go to another physician and see if they can refer you to some sort of specialist. I know a lack of iron can make you tired, but I don't think it causes hair loss. I hope you find your answer. Take care.

I do nnot know of any vitamins of any topical sollution that is highly effective in restoring your hair. The only thing that I have read that does that is hair restoration. Hair Restoration generally costs between $4000 and $5000 but can get as expensive as $12000 depending on the doctor, and how much you are getting to restored. The website I found mentioned that grafts cost between $3-$10 per graft but the number of hairs a doctor puts in per graft can very so it suggested seeing a doctor and asking him/her about it. If I was doing hair restoration I would see a few different doctors and weigh the pros/cons of each one to make your best decision. Who knows you may be able to mention the different prices to each doctor to see if you can get your favorite to lower his/her price!
try essential oils like rosemary and peppermint oil to stimulate circulation in the scalp. it will promote hair growth, message your scalp too daily to help with the circulation

Is it dignified for a woman older than 35 to have really long hair?

Its down past my bra strap..but its not straggly or anything, quite thick %26amp; shiny... should I cut it?Is it dignified for a woman older than 35 to have really long hair?
no don't cut it, especially if it's in good condition!! There's no law that says you have to get a perm and a blue rinse when you hit a certain age-lol!Is it dignified for a woman older than 35 to have really long hair?
No kimona, do not cut it, It sounds beautiful.
definitely not - at 50 maybe but you are still young.
Dont cut it!, my mum had really longhair once, but she cut it and it never grew back the same! DONT CUT IT!
Please your self,I for one like long hair.
Not if you don't want to. What about Lorraine wotsit? she's got to be well over 50 and looks more dignified than almost anyone on the box.
It's not dignified if you cannot carry the look off. if you look good keep it.

it's not dignified after about 45
omg!! you shoudnt even need to ask this question! it is totally up to you, however you feel, it you think it makes you look good then keep it! it you doubting it then try a different style but the same length. its totally up to you not all us lot who are never going to meet you!!! hope this helps xx
    Never.
    Yes.
Don't you dare cut it!! It sounds like you take good care of it,and therefore it really is your 'crowning glory'.

If you're happy with it,keep it. Age has nothing to do with how long your hair should be! Wear your hair in a way that you feel good about!
No ....sexy looking if you keep it looking nice ..... please
no, if it's in good condition leave it.
I like long hair in women, the length you suggest sounds very nice. It's femenine and attractive. If you cut it, only do so because it's what you want to do, not because of other peoples opinions. And what does age have to do with hair length!?!
my schoolfriend and i of nearly 60 years both have long hair we have never wanted to look like a clone ,long hair is tidier and their are more ways that you can wear it do your own thing
Oh for heaven's sake, wear it as you wish. Be yourself and become your own person.

I am 62 with semi-long hair and don't give a crap what others think of how I should wear it.
My grandma has a gloriously long braid, it goes down to her hip. Dignity is all about the attitude, and if long hair suits your style, love it ^^.
no if you like it keep it
Long hair is ok but it can be expensive to keep it looking its best if its very long. 35 is ok for long hair.
if ya like it keep it my wife is 37 and her's is down to her thong
Why would you cut it? If it's beautiful and you keep it looking nice, don't worry about it. Many famous older women keep long hair styles or get extensions so that they can have long hair. I think it's awesome.
no, dont do it I love older women and I love long hair, keep it!
I don't know if it's dignified or not, but I am 56 and my hair is almost to my waist(.I've only got a few stray greys)

When I was a child I was never allowed long hair, so now I'm a rebel and do as I please! you do the same honey.

You can always tie it up when you are in public view just as I do, then I don't look like I'm mutton dressed as lamb as is suggested by some when they see older people with long hair.
Eh?! You really shouldn't be asking that. If you want long hair, you have long hair. It shouldn't matter what a bunch random people online think.

Whatever your reasons and whatever it looks like, just do what you want with it. It's your hair! Do what you want and don't let other people choose for you.

If you like long, flowy hair, then that's fine; but if you'd rather cut it shorter to make it more practical or maybe just for a change, then that's fine too. Just remember that it's YOUR hair and it's YOUR decision, not anyone elses!!!
most women cut there hair short the minute they have kids cos they don't have time for it.

your hair is part of you so if you like it keep it. forget first impressions of oh they'll think i;m undignified. they'll talk to you and then make that judgement based on that if not do you care they think?
Yes of course - 35 is hardly over the hill yet!!!
well it depends on how good the hair looks and how the person dresses ect....

too long can be drowning on older women but i dont know for sure
Absolutely not, long hair is an asset when kept in good shape and trimmed regularly.

I am a little older than you but look late 20's. My hair is thick, straight and silky dark brown - never dyed it and dont need to yet, and is very long down to my lower back. I love my hair and have received compliments all my life. Only ever had short hair for a brief time in my life. Long hair is so easy to manage. I can curl it, put it up in a pony tai, plait it, chignon etc.

I aim to keep my hair long for the rest of my life.
Long hair is great especially if it's in good condition - as yours seems to be.
No way, you can't beat a woman with long silky hair much better than short no matter what age she is.
Dignified? Please!!!!! It is your hair sweetie. Lots of older women have long hair. Don't let others influence you.

I say theres no 'hard and fast rule' on hair length.

It has more to do with personality I think with what you can get away with and what you can't.

I have really long, curly red hair and I feel SO overexposed with short hair. I like hiding behind my hair (of course I'm not a middle aged man so this doens't really answer anything does it?)

    :)
well i think you look nice with long and short. but the short hair makes you look more young
It does not have anything to do with age at all! Either you look sexy with long hair or not... I think that long hair is soooo hot if you take care of it. My grandpa was 54 when he died and he had long awesome hair. It looked amazing! He was like a clean cut ZZ top lol. I love long hair on guys when it is clean and well managed! Happy Holidays Sweetie!
You have to do what is best for you...but for me personally it is unattractive for a man to have long hair...I think a man looks more put together with a nice stylish clean cut...In my opinion a man looks more sexy when he is confident at what ever age he is...not trying to ';look'; more youthful...But...different strokes for different girls...if you really want long hair...I am sure there are many girls who will hold exactly the opposite opinion of everything I said....The main thing...be yourself.

After looking at your 360...I would go somewhere in between.
I think long hair looks cool on older guys but not if they let it get all grown out and nappy looking. The key is regular grooming every 4 - 6 weeks, just to keep it from getting shaggy. When it's not taken care of properly it can look like granpa trying to recreate the 70's metal look.
I am very picky and I think that all guys should have short hair. It just has to be above the ear. I like bick bald the best. But not everyone looks good like that. The shorter the hair on a guy the cleaner they look. Your length in the picture looks good.
I don't think it's pathetic- if you have the hair for it do it! But for guys with recessed hairlines and thin, scraggly pony tails, the word I think is ';affected';- they are seeking a certain style affect, and are failing miserably!
It pretty much looks silly even on younger dudes. But it's pretty much out of style for older guys. Guys are so much hotter with a short, tight do.
I think the way your hair is in your avatar is great. When you said ';long'; I assumed that you meant 80's hair-band long. Boy - I'm glad I was wrong. You hair looks good for your face the way it is - I didn't care for the crew cut look on you too much.
I think you look better witht he short hair because of your face shape. But you can do an inbetween of those pictures of long and short. Short doens't have to be very short nor does long have to be really long. You should play with different lengths to see what is best for you
If you look nice with long hair then why not?It could be your own style trade mark, something to remember...
judging from your picture, I think long hair looks good on you. Some people can't pull it off. I think that you can't have thick hair if you're going to have long hair.
If the guy keeps his hair trimmed at the ends so it's not all split-endy, and he keeps it clean, its sexy!.....but if its all scraggly and rough, greasy, etc then its just sort of ';stoner'; hair and that's not hot at all.

I know an attorney who wears his hair really long, mid-back length and he keeps his sideburns trimmed nicely and the hair is always superclean and shiny with perfectly trimmed ends.......its a long ponytail, but he doesn't look like some 70s throwback at all........its sex-sayyyyyyyy!

What age on a woman is too old for long hair?

I have had several women tell me that they are too old for long hair. I love long hair on a woman and I always encourage it. Sometimes I don't know if it is just an excuse they are using. I'm talking hair down to around the elbow, what do you think? What age on a woman is too old for long hair?
I'm 54 and have long hair, but it is a problem to maintain. The gray hair is much more fragile and dry. Trying to figure out how to style it for work is also a problem. Multiply all that by the power of 10 for thick, heavy and curly hair. It doesn't really look that great anymore, like everything else when you get older. Nice to imagine you'll keep the same hair you had when you were young, only a different color, but it's not the same. What age on a woman is too old for long hair?
LOL... never! I'm a long hair fan too.

I know that some older women were brought up believing that you were supposed to go shorter each year- but hey, I think long haired older women are hot.

    There are no rules!
Long hair is so pretty! I think a woman is never too old to have long hair, as long as it looks nice. If it's beginning to look bad or get brittle, then maybe she ought to go shorter. But otherwise, why not have it long and pretty? Long is great!
I don't think anyone necessarily gets ';too old'; for long hair. Either you look good with long hair or you don't. It has nothing to do with age. I have noticed that some older women get a more harsh look with longer hair, but it's usually because they don't style it or it's an matronly style that needs revamping. There is absolutely no reason a woman in her later years shouldn't have a beautiful, long head of hair. :)
It will fall out eventually...lol enjoy it why you have it!!!
One is never too old for long hair. If it is still growing and you like the way it looks, let it grow.!
I'm all for long hair I'm only 22 yrs old and I'm not cutting it ever agian I want to be really long when I get older, even if I have one of my grandchildren brush it...lol
What's wrong with having long hair? I love long hair, it is very sexy and feminine. If you have beautiful hair, then flaunt it baby!
As one gets older, the hair becomes more brittle, making it more difficult to brush without losing significant amount of hair.
Never too old. I refuse to be one of those old ladies with chopped off hair, looking like I am starring on the Golden girls.
It's not usually the most flattering way to wear your hair after 45.
I don't think age matters when it comes to hair length. Regardless of age or length, what matters most is that you maintain healthy hair. However, I don't think that a woman's hair should ever be past her elbow, it just looks stringy and creepy, no matter how well it is maintained. There is also a stigma that gray hair is frumpy looking. I don't agree with that. I think gray hair is just as beautiful as whatever color it was originally. When my hair goes gray I plan to wear it proudly.
I am 40 with long hair (my husband prefers it.)

The time for rules like that is over.

Relax and let that hair down, ladies!
my friends(?) keep trying to get me to cut my hair..mid way down my back...there seems to be this ';book'; that says women after a certain age can't have long hair...Such b/s....there is no ';book'; long live long hair!!!

Can an eleven year old boy take dollar general women's vitamins for hair skin and nails?

NO.... Ask your parents or someone older than you for help...

Vitamins can also have side effects, if not used properly. Can an eleven year old boy take dollar general women's vitamins for hair skin and nails?
be extremely careful a/b taking any vitamins from dollar general. vitamins are not regulated by the gov anyways, so better to have a trusted brand. if i were you, i'd stick to flinstones vitamins. this is strange: i'm a 26 yr old female and you are 11 yr old boy and i take Flinstone's Vitamins and you take dollar general women's vitamins!! what's going on here?!

    :)

What do you think is an appropriate hair style for a 33 year old woman?

Im 33 and I still wear my hair long. Actually, I have been wearing my hair long since High School. Do you think that now that Im slowley approaching 40, that I should consider a short hairstyle? Whats an appropriate haircut for a 33 year old? What do you think is an appropriate hair style for a 33 year old woman?
well i think if you are a skinny woman you should look into short hairstyles like shoulder legnth and some layers and mabye side bangs.. but side bangs i think suite people with a more narrow or oval face. if you are a bit plump then below the breast is something that you should go for but this also coems to another question if your hair is frizzy or not. if it is leave it long if now short is the new inWhat do you think is an appropriate hair style for a 33 year old woman?
I think as long as you feel comfortable and pretty any hair cut is appropriate. You're still very young. I am 30 and have long hair. I got more layers since the high school but 33 it's not 40 so don't rush it. You can always cut it but it's hard to grow it back. Play with it first, get some highlights, layers, try curly iron (I love 1 1/2 inc. on long hair), try some new styling products. Get a magazine for some long hair ideas. I love my hair up. And if you are still tired of it then cut it. I am planning on cutting my hair eventually but not till at lest I am 40 some.
How long is your hair? Theres no need to change your hairstyle just because youve reached a certain age My mums in her 40's and she has gorgeous long hair. If you suit long hair then dont cut it to short, if you feel a change have a few inches taken off the ends, leaving it with some length and add some layers. There is no right and wrong to it and as long as you like it who cares if it appropriate or not, i dont see why everyone nearing 40 has to have their hair cut, theres no sense to it :)
I think any hair length is appropriate it just depends on the way u style it... hair isn't what people usually do wrong as they get older it's clothes! As long as you are dressing age appropriate I think you are free to do as you wish with your hair.... with in reason ahahah
My Mum is 42 and still has long hair, just over shoulder length.

If you really want to get it shorter, go for like a pob or a a-symetrical one.

Or you could trim it so it's shoulder length.

    x
any longer than shoulder length makes a person look old. the shorter the better as you get older. long hair is out these days it seems...
A nice sleek bob, a dark colour would suit a bob, short at the back and long at the front :)

    hope this helps x
    Shoulder length would be suitable.
do what YOU want be freeeeeeeeeeeeeee lol..
